The blogging team organised a goodbye film for Federica Crespi and Chiara Bettinzoli who both spent a term in Lower Sixth, developing their English. They have now returned to Italy and are continuing their Italian education. The film was a big surprise, and played in the end of year assembly as a goodbye from the Sixth Form and the bloggers!
The media blogging team joined forces with Stevie Squire who presented a short video during enrichment last week. In this session every Wednesday the Sixth Form have a range of activities taking place; The extended project ( EPQ), The Duke of Edinburgh gold award, UCAS and careers guidance, academic mentoring, debating, the school magazine, and of course the media bloggers! Enjoy our film! The blogging team. Recently the whole of Lower Sixth visited a local Cookery school at Little Portland Street near Oxford Circus.
At the start of the day we were given refreshments and introduced to each of the chefs including the Head chef Rosaline. Who explained the menu and the arrangements for the day, which included working in 6 groups of 5 students. We were shown how to make dough for our pizzas and after the demonstration set to work on them. After the dough was collected we were split up again into two groups one was in charge of making the salad to accompany the pizza and then the fruit salad for dessert and the other group was left to make the tomato sauce for the base of the pizza and the sweet treats of brownies and lemon cupcakes. We all then added our toppings, which included pepperoni, olives, tomatoes, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. We waited half an hour for our pizzas during that time we started to eat the salad as a starter. When our pizzas were cooked we couldn’t wait to eat them! Later each table was given its own tray of brownies and lemon cupcakes, and one student was given a cake because it was their birthday. After our meal we cleaned the kitchen and were given certificates and the recipes that we had learnt that day, as well as the rest of our individual dough. Which led to some interesting stories the next day !! Bloggers Sarah Hashim ,Elizabeth Brodie Wicks and Zak Perry A few members of the Sixth Form have decided to collectively blog about any current events, interesting activities in school or just what makes Sixth Form at Portland Place special and different from everywhere else!
The following are a few of our enthusiastic bloggers introducing themselves: Hello, my name is Aashna Irani. I have just moved here from India and have joined Portland Place. I am glad that I chose this school because the students are extremely warm and welcoming and so are the teachers. This school welcomes you with open arms. It is extremely different from India as in India we had no free time. I feel that it is helpful to have some free time as it helps us cope with our work. I feel great coming to Portland Place every morning. Hello everybody, my name is Zak Perry. I am a model and I am an all-round sportsman. I love going to Portland Place because everyone is so nice and it makes me happy because I have made a group of friends who I hope to stay friends with for life. I think I look like Johnny Depp mixed with Zac Efron. This school makes me feel at home and not only are all the students nice, the teachers are too. I am very happy I joined this school. Good day, I’m Clara. I joined Portland Place at the beginning of Sixth Form taking Philosophy, English Literature, Film Studies and Drama. I find the teaching very supportive and know I will be able to achieve my best results thanks to them helping me continuously. Portland Place is a very small school and feels almost like a family. I enjoy coming to school every day. |
